It is written by John Seeley who later was at UCSB during the era of the riots and afterwards in Santa Barbara; driving force behind the STRATEGIC HAMLET (along with Becca Wilson) and, later, the SANTA BARBARA NEWS & REVIEW (predecessor of today's Santa Barbara INDEPENDENT):

Southern Union Movement



Consolidation of North American media in the hands of a few is nothing new. As the following NPR book review of "The Voice of Southern Labor: Radio, Music and Textile Strikes, 1929-1934" illustrates, things were quite different before the Communications Act of 1934:
